About us

Our mission

La Clinique des femmes de l’Outaouais is a non profit feminist organization founded in 1981. It offers health services in family planning, in particular, the voluntary termination of pregnancy and contraception.

Our objectives

  • We offer women a wide range of care, information, awareness, education and referral services.
  • We work with health and community organizations to ensure a continuum of women’s health services.
  • We defend women’s freedom of choice in exercising a monitoring role, in collaboration with organizations that share similar objectives.

Services

  • We offer abortion services up to 15 weeks of pregnancy.
  • We ensure that women who cannot benefit from abortion services here, either because they are too far along or because their health conditions require that abortion be performed in hospital setting, can be referred appropriately to other providers.
  • We disseminate relevant information regarding the prevention of unwanted pregnancies to the community.
  • We provide family planning services to women without a family doctor.
  • We provide IUD insertion services to women, even if they have a family doctor.

Philosophy of care

La Clinique des femmes de l’Outaouais has a feminist philosophy based on freedom of choice and participates in the defense of this right for all women. This philosophy is characterized by the enhancement of women’s potential, freedom to control their own bodies, empowerment, equality and social justice. The clinic welcomes a diversity of women, expressed by differences in age, creed, origin, social class, education, health condition, sexual orientation and identity or any other forms.

The clinic and its members refuse all forms of discrimination and oppression whether they come from a religious influence, violence against women or sexual assault, and all social, racial and economic inequalities that persist within our society.

The clinic collaborates with other organizations to end taboos and myths surrounding abortion and freedom of choice. All our services are confidential, safe and welcoming. We favour a comprehensive approach to women’s health. Thus, their needs and their welfare is not only central to our intervention, but their choices and preferences are respected.

Our intervention philosophy is embodied by four main principles :

  • Accept every woman unconditionally by recognizing and respecting her personal circumstances.
  • Support women in their choices and the course they take.
  • Ensure access by women to our services.
  • Adapt our services and work tools to each woman’s needs.
